pet wellness with a purpose to help families care for the pets that they love. Dr. McEndree’s dedicated staff gives their all to provide comprehen- sive preventive and wellness veteri- nary services for every stage in your pet’s life, from puppy to senior pet. For Dr. McEndree, he’s proud to be a vet and in a profession where a help- ing hand is always there.  “I am very proud to be in a profession where veterinarians and their staff are willing to give 100 percent of themselves to help animals that cannot help themselves. I see them go above and beyond over and over,” he said. Dr. McEndree is also extremely proud of the way veterinar- ians rally round one another when there is a need.  “I have seen countless times when one veterinarian has helped another by loaning equipment or taking on extra shifts to help when illness or injury occurs,” he explained. Over the past 19 years, Dr. McEndree has seen a lot in his long career, with some of the most interest- ing cases being with the animals he has treated himself.  “I saved a mule from Equine Eastern Encephalitis; I removed a large thyroid tumor from a horse’s neck; I have extracted many strange foreign objects from dogs’ and cats’ intestinal tracts, including a $65,000 wedding ring. But my most memo- rable experience was performing open thoracic surgery on a 12-week- old puppy that had a birth defect on its aortic artery exiting the heart. That dog is 13 years old now. When I first began practicing, I kept a notebook and wrote down interesting cases, but that soon became over- whelming because there were so many memorable stories of pets and their owners. Many have become my friends,” he explained.  His most unusual pet story comes from his own pet, an orange-haired dog that he acquired as a “thank you” for saving his life during a C-section.  “He was very lovable and very mischievous,” Dr. McEndree recalled fondly. “He was more like a cat with nine lives. Because of his antics, he only had three legs, not to mention many surgeries, blood transfu- sions and treatments. While he was a cherished family member, we often wondered what he was going to get himself into next. We were lucky to have him for so long until he passed away from liver cancer at 14.5 years old.”  Dr. McEndree fondly recalls a heartwarming story involving a stray dog brought to the clinic by a good Samaritan that had a great outcome for the pet owners.  “We scanned the dog for a microchip and was lucky to [find] one. We contacted the microchip company to get the owner’s informa- tion and called them. They were an elderly couple traveling from Florida to California for their granddaugh- ter’s wedding and their little dog had gotten away from them while they had stopped in this area. They could not miss the wedding and had to leave their little pet behind. We assured them that we would care for their pet until they could return. Seeing the reunion gave us great joy and we were so glad that story had a happy ending,” he said.  Dr. McEndree and the amazing staff at Clear Fork Veterinary Clinic obviously go above and beyond to help out their smallest patients while offering a wide variety of services including wellness exams, vaccina- tions and pain management, along with boarding, micro-chipping, heartworm/flea products and home delivery for prescription food and medicine.
