PARKER COUNTY AG
Cameron Lane
Brock Middle School student Cameron Lane is in the sixth grade and shows
pigs, turkeys, and crops. She has competed since kindergarten and says, “I
like competing against people and hanging out with friends during show
week. The thing I like least is the early mornings.”
She mainly competes here in Parker County and credits her dad, Cody
Lane, mom Ranae Lane, her big sister, basketball coaches, and teachers,
for her inspiration. Some of her awards include; Brock Livestock Show and
Parker County Livestock Show, Junior Crop Showmanship at Parker County,
Reserve Champion Turkey at Brock Livestock Show and numerous other
blue and red ribbons throughout the years. Cameron loves the feeling of
victory.
“I love to win. I really like the feeling of success. With showing, I hope it
will help me win medals, buckles, or scholarships,” she explained.
Cameron loves playing basketball and also enjoys playing with her dog,
Harlie. In the summer she enjoys going to Possum Kingdom Lake and like
all teenagers, enjoys hanging out with her friends. She goes and supports
Brock’s teams by rooting for them during any sporting event.
“I am so thankful for the opportunities I get to show. Stock show week
is one of my favorite weeks of the summer. It’s a lot of work, but also a
whole lot of fun showing with my friends and helping each other,”
Cameron said.
Cameron is a go getter with her career choices being either a basketball
coach or an entrepreneur. One of her most exciting memories is when she
outplaced her sister Sydney.
“I will never forget the first time I won a buckle for crops and beat my sister. I
tried to be calm, but I was so excited,” she said.
