Jack Borden Legal Eagle Award Nick Harper Drew Springer, Marsha Brown, Nick Harper, Zan Prince A 98 ttorney Nick Harper is uniquely qualified for the Jack Borden Award. Jack Borden and his nephew, John Westhoff practiced law together continuously from 1974 until Jack’s death in 2011, at the age of 103.  Like Jack before him, John Westhoff continues to help the people of Parker County in so many ways including mentoring talented young lawyers who will take up the mantle of leadership to help the people of Parker County deal with complicated legal issues. In 2014, a brilliant young attorney named Nick Harper joined the firm of Borden & Westhoff after recently obtain- ing his license to practice law in the great State of Texas. Harper grew up in San Antonio and attended the United States Naval Academy. After graduation in Annapolis in 2003, and upon graduation, he fulfilled his military commitment through service in the United States Marine Corps. Harper served one tour of duty in Afghanistan and achieved the rank of captain before leav- ing to pursue a career and establish a law practice in the private sector. After serving his country, he became involved with police work, graduating first in his class and rising to the rank of corporal in the Arlington Police Department. While employed at the Arlington Police Department, he attended law school and graduated second in his class. After graduation, Harper joined a local law firm, where he has practiced successfully for five years. Harper and his family live in Parker County and are members of Greenwood Baptist Church. He became a member of the Weatherford Rotary Club. Harper’s wife is an educator with a Master’s degree with one young child. Harper possesses the skill, drive, commitment, honesty and integrity of Jack Borden for whom this award is given. “He shares the same integrity, honesty and drive of those who came before him,” Westhoff said. Nick Harper currently is a member of Borden & Westhoff law firm, he sits in Jack Borden’s office, which had remained empty for six years since Jack’s death, now fills his chair, and will fill his shoes.
