In 1977, he became the Parker County District Attor- ney. “I was elected to three terms.” Although he loved the work that came with the office, he hated the politics. “I was never very comfortable being a politician,” Smith said. “I never was really good at politics. But, after nearly three decades, Smith has shifted his focus, again to civil law. After four decades as an attor- ney, Smith is still fascinated by the law, every aspect of it. “The challenge of the process intrigues me,” Smith said, adding that he loves the opportunity to help people. He helps people outside of the courtroom as well. He has a real passion for education. Smith is also a devoted Coyote fan who serves on the Weatherford College Board of Trustees.     Roger Grizzard Innovative Educator Award Weatherford High Schoolers know Roger Griz- zard as Mr. Griz- zard, the economics teacher at WHS, and owner of the Pizza Place, a South Main eatery serv- ing and employ- ing students for decades.  He is a gifted educator who has been known to wear several hats at once and to wear them all with a certain grace and flare. For decades he devoted his days to working as a WHS teacher. But, once the school bell tolled, he rushed to Pizza Place, which he has operated since coming to town 40 years ago. What better lesson in economics than a family-owned restaurant like Pizza Place?   Jim Martin Dynamic Developer Award Jim Martin isn’t originally from Parker County, but he got here as quickly as he could.
