Dr. Cyril Varughese Heart Center of North Texas Dr. Varughese is the newest addition to the Heart Center of North Texas, based in Parker County and Medical City Weatherford. Before joining the Heart Center, Dr. Varughese was part of the Congestive Heart Fail- ure Team at Baylor All Saints Hospital, working with the surgical team to develop a mechanical circulatory support system for patients in Tarrant County. Born and raised in Dallas, it was during his time volunteering at Methodist Dallas Medical Center that Dr. Varughese developed his desire to get involved in medicine, completing his Internal Medicine training at Methodist Dallas Medical Center. He became their chief resident for his final year of residency. He found that his true passion is cardiol- ogy after experiencing the loss of a close family member to heart disease. He went on to complete his fellowship in general cardiology at Plaza Medical Center in Fort Worth. From there, he decided to expand his cardiovascular background and specialize in Advanced Heart Failure/Mechanical Circulatory Support, finish- ing his Advanced Heart Failure Training at the Specializing in Women’s Healthcare and Quality of Life Need an appointment soon? Dr. Varughese returned to North Texas to provide care to the community he calls home, using his specialty at local hospitals; Baylor All Saints, Medical City Fort Worth and Medical City Weatherford, and Texas Health Harris Methodist in Fort Worth. He belongs to several professional organizations, including the Ameri- can College of Cardiology, Texas Medical Association, the International Society for Heart & Lung Transplanta- tion, American Osteopathic Associa- tion, Heart Failure Society of Ameri- ca, American College of Osteopathic Internists and the American College of Physicians. He is also board certi- fied in Cardiovascular Disease and Internal Medicine. Dr. Varughese feels that his accomplishments and contributions are derived from his devotion to Cardiology and attributes these acco- lades to his in-depth training. When Dr. Varughese is not providing quality care to his patients, he is a supporter, with his loving wife, of his favorite team, the Dallas Mavericks.
