John Baker is originally from Santo
where he attended kindergarten
through high school, but his family
owns land south of Mineral Wells
where he now lives. The 100 acres
that belonged to his great grandfather
is his home where he enjoys fishing,
hunting, or just entertaining friends
and family with food cooked outside
over the grill.
Baker has been a patrol officer in
Weatherford for only seven months,
but he has been a peace officer for
more than four years, coming to town
after a stint as a deputy sheriff in Palo
Pinto County. He changed depart-
ments because of, “Better pay, better
hours and it was just a better move
for me,” he said. “It’s a lot quieter
than the big city, but it’s busier
than I was in Palo Pinto County.”
