Doyle Moss Doyle is the Mayor of Willow Park and co-owner of Moss Insurance Group. Parker County Today: How did you get into your occupation? DM: The pastor of my church, before the presidential election, emailed me and said he thought I could do Willow Park a good job [as mayor] and asked me to consider it. I thought about it and I talked to my wife about it. I went to a Bush Legacy meet- ing in October of 2016 and heard a gentleman talk. I was thinking about it and I heard a guy say at the end of his speech ‘There is not enough good people stepping up to a good thing’ so when he said that, I looked over at Linda and said ‘I’m in.’ PCT: What is your favorite novel? DM: The first book I read from cover to cover was The Godfather and I was in my mid-30’s. I just finished a Max Lucado book. I enjoy reading a lot. 74 PCT: What do you do to decompress? DM: Linda and I play a lot of golf. I don’t worry a lot about things. It’s not that things don’t bother me. I just have a way of categorizing them and dealing with them when the time comes. I don’t want to take away from today. I don’t worry like other people do. PCT: What is something people don’t know about you? DM: I went to Texas Bible College in 1967 - 1968. It was a good year, but it wasn’t for me. PCT: What would you most like to be remembered for? DM: I lived a life helping people. PCT: What’s your favorite way to pay it forward? DM: I enjoy buying people’s lunch or dinner. If Linda and I go into a restau- rant, no matter where we are, if I see an elderly person, especially a lady sitting by herself, I get her ticket. It’s in memory of my mother. Linda use to wonder why, but she doesn’t ask me anymore. I think we were all put on this earth to serve. PCT: If you could have lunch with anyone, living or dead in history, who would it be?  DM: Christ in order to understand the love, and grace, and mercy that He gives us, to try and understand it. PCT: If you had to do another job than what you’re doing, what would you do?  DM: I would have loved to been able to play on the golf tour. PCT: What’s the best piece of advice you would give for someone who would want to be mayor?  DM: Be sure you have the time for it. I do with the business, time and staff I have. Be patient. Listen, but don’t be afraid to make a decision. Stand by your convictions. PCT: What is the coolest thing you feel you have done in your life?  DM: Other than meeting Ms. Linda, we went to Israel last year. The birth of my first child. Without Linda, she’s the force behind a lot of the coolest stuff. I’ve been blessed to do a lot, but going there last year ranks up there. Christin Bender Franchise owner of the Montessori Kids Universe. Parker County Today: How did you get into your occupation? CB: My husband and I had our daughter in April of 2012. We put her in a daycare in Fort Worth, and though the daycare was well known and well respected, we were under- whelmed with the overall learn- ing experience that was offered. We began a search for a childcare option that would include a variety of learning opportunities, and found that within the Montessori curricu- lum. We moved from Cresson to Weatherford, and in doing so had a challenging time finding a suitable Montessori school in Parker County. Thus, we enrolled our daughter in a Montessori School in Granbury. Though the location was inconve- nient, we were adamant that our daughter learn through Montessori teaching methods. We endured the commute over time, and simulta- neously recognized the need for a similar school in Weatherford. So, we began exploring our options and bought a franchise that incorporated a blend of Montessori and Reggio learning methods; Montessori Kids Universe. PCT: What is your favorite novel? CB: I love anything written by Lysa TerKeurst and the Bible is my go to when needing answers to hard ques- tions. PCT: What do you do to decompress? CB: Spending time with my family and our pets is my best method for decompressing. We love to play cards and board games and the occa- sional puzzle. PCT: What is something people don’t know about you? CB: We have a little 10 acre farm full of miniature Belted Galloways and Panda cattle. PCT: What would you most like to be
