for it, don’t make excuses. Expect a strike and swing for the fence! PCT: What is the coolest thing you have done in your life? TM: Kayaking down the Devil’s and Pecos River in South Texas. These are really remote trips that take several days, and you can only take what you can pack in a kayak. I have done these trips with groups of great friends and have been doing trips down these rivers with my dad my whole life. In the last couple years, I have been able to take my wife and oldest son. It is truly an adventure. Monica Elbers Monica is the founder of the Boutique Junkie in Hudson Oaks  PCT: What would you most like to be remembered for?  ME: Being compassionate and always working hard. PCT: What’s your favorite way to pay it forward? ME: Simple gestures of kindness, whether it be buying someone’s lunch, covering the next person in line’s drink or a handwritten note saying thank you.  PCT: If you could have lunch with anyone, living or dead in history, who would it be?  ME: Ellen DeGeneres. PCT: If you had to do another job other than what you’re doing, what would you do?  ME: I would for sure go back to teaching. PCT: What is your definition of the best day ever?  ME: Lots of laughter, food, family and friends. Very simple and in the moment. PCT: What’s the best piece of advice you would give?  ME: My dad used to say, “It doesn’t cost anything to be kind. It may be the only thing that sets you apart.” Parker County Today: How did you get into your occupation?  Monica Elbers: Honestly, I just had a passion for clothing and an idea to provide women with an improved shopping experience. A dream blos- somed from there! 56 PCT: What is your favorite novel?  ME: “The Shack.” PCT: What do you do to decompress?  ME: Long bubble baths. PCT: What is something people don’t know about you?  ME: I’m a huge fan of the ’90s rapper, Notorious B.I.G. PCT: What is the coolest thing you feel you have done in your life?  ME: A few years back, my husband and I got the opportunity to swim with whale sharks in Mexico. It was an amazing experience. Paul Paschall: I was mentored in graduate school by a very experi- enced insurance professional. This was the first step in my path of indus- try training, which led to a career path that has been very enjoyable.   PCT: What do you do to decompress? PP: Fishing is the ultimate way for me to decompress. Spending time with Courtney where we are both unplugged is always enjoyable too.   PCT: What is something people don’t know about you?  PP: I don’t swim well at all, and I strongly dislike snakes.   PCT: What would you most like to be remembered for? PP: Hopefully being a difference maker. My goal is to always produce measurable results.   PCT: What’s your favorite way to pay it forward?  PP: Everyday interaction with others. Paying it forward is a state of mind, versus a single, individual action.   PCT: If you could have lunch with anyone, living or dead in history, who would it be?  PP: My parents. Often times when they were alive, I was “too busy” to spend time with them. They always understood, but if I could turn back time, I would have handled things differently.   PCT: If you had to do another job other than what you’re doing, what would you do? PP: I really don’t feel like my profes- sion is a job. I can’t think of anything else I would rather do. I work with a team a fabulous professionals and would not change a single thing.   PCT: What is your definition of the best day ever?  PP: The best day ever is the next one.   PCT: What’s the best piece of advice you would give?  PP: Leadership takes courage.
