it was decided that Lindsey needed to play in an organization that had better recruiting possibilities outside of the local area, so she joined the Texas Glory Adkins organization. Lindsey spent three years with the organization, making contacts with college recruiters during her travels.  With all the traveling she has done, Lindsey says that her favorite part of playing softball is the camara- derie between the players.  “[It’s] the family aspect of it. You have lifelong friends from the teams you play on and everything involved in it,” she said.  But Lindsey didn’t limit herself to softball. Her first three years of high school she was a member of the all- district academic team. She played basketball and volleyball throughout her school career, but decided to put all her focus on softball when she was a sophomore. During the fall of Lindsey’s sophomore year, she would move teams again to the Impact Gold organization to help with her college recruiting. It was with Impact Gold that former University of Louisiana Lafayette coach Mike Lotief came to the Metroplex to start a travel team organization called Excel Elite. Lindsey’s team was chosen to be the first in the organization.  During her entire travel career, Lindsey has participated in and won multiple major tournaments across the country. She was named second team all-district in 2016, and honor- able mention her sophomore and junior years, and named defensive player of the year in 2018. When she has free time between playing ball or going to school, she loves to hang out with her friends, espe- cially outside. Lindsey signed her letter of intent to play softball at the University of Texas in Arlington this year. It’s a dream come true for both her and her parents.  “We are so proud of her,” her mom Lisa said. “She has worked really hard. She plays select travel all year-round and high school ball. To see all her hard work pay off, her family is so proud of her. She put in a lot of work.”  It’s not just work for Lindsey, but the dedication of the entire family supporting her while traveling to out- of-state tournaments that has helped make her so successful. Even though Lindsey hasn’t settled on a major yet, she’s super excited to be heading to UTA in the fall, even though she will miss seeing her lifelong friends every day.  “I’m looking forward to going to college and continuing to play. I’m planning on studying something involved in the health field, like nurs- ing,” she said.  For all the young girls looking to make their names in sports, Lindsey says that the best thing to have before starting a sports journey is patience.  “Patience is the key because everything will happen and fall into place, but it will take time. No need to rush into anything.”  43
