Parker County Today PCT January 2019 | Page 37

Parker County Today: What did you do before you got into your current business?  ZE: After graduating college, I worked in Houston as a financial consultant for a medium size utili- ties company. After planning on moving back to the DFW area, the opportunity presented itself to start up a firm in the Parker County area, and I could not pass it up. PCT: What is your passion in starting this business? ZE: It is really satisfying knowing I can assist an owner in getting their fair compensation for a company that they have put years of hard work into, helping them retire or move on to the next step in their life. PCT: How did you get into this field?  ZE: I really feel like it blends all the knowledge I have learned in college as well as all of my past experience. My base was already in finance and I wanted to have more interactions with people. Not only that, but actually help everyday business owners exit their business. PCT: What do you look forward to the most in this new business?  ZE: Learning the ins and outs of all the different industries. I am young, and being exposed to clients in so many industries is going to help me grow and gain tons of inside knowledge in a range of businesses. PCT: What is the best piece of advice you can give to customers? ZE: For business owners, seek advice early. A lot of the time companies have CPAs and think that’s enough, but when a compa- ny is trying to grow or an owner is trying to sell, you need some- one who specializes in packaging your company structurally and financially. PCT: What is something that others don’t know about you or your job? ZE: I grew up just west of Parker County in Mineral Wells. I gradu- ated high school there in 2012, and went from Weatherford College to Tarleton State where I graduated in 2017. PCT: Where do you see yourself and your business in the next 10 years?  ZE: Personally, I would like to be more involved with my commu- nity, whether that be here or my hometown in Mineral Wells. Businesswise, I would love to see the business expand to multiple brokers in a mix of cities and counties in the area. And most importantly, I will still be helping business owners of all sizes grow and get their fair compensation for their hard work. 490 PCT: What do you do in your day to day? ZE: Every day is different. There is a lot of interaction with busi- ness owners who are needing help exiting their business, and we get a variety of people in a variety of industries. We have also been in the process of completing a few valuations, and it is fulfill- ing to know at the very least we can take a look at the company financially and advise them on what changes they need to make to better their business. When we are not directly working with the owner, we are kind of “behind the scenes,” gathering financials and other documents from bookkeep- ers and accountants. 35
