PARKER COUNTY AG
Beyla Decker
Sixteen-year-old Beyla Decker is not new to being a champion. The
Brock student has been showing since the age of six, winning Grand
Champion two years in a row in crops and the Jr. Grand Champion two
years in a row for ag mechanics. She has also been awarded numerous
buckles for showmanship, which aligns with one of Beyla’s goals of
being a mentor to younger kids.
“I want younger kids to look up to me as a showman and I want them
to know that they can ask me any questions about showing, she said.
Beyla is the daughter of Jerry and Terrie Decker and the youngest of
three siblings. Her brothers, Bandy Macae Decker, 25 and Rowdy
Augustus Decker, 21 are inspirations to her.
“Following in the footsteps of my two brothers and their ability to show
inspires me. These two guys are a hard act to follow. I want to be as
successful as possible with showing to reach the highest goals that I
can,” she said.
She also credits the late David Jerrod Garner of Moritz Chevrolet for
her success and a few others.
“This man always encouraged me with my showing and supported me
throughout my showing days; he not only encouraged me with
showing, he truly cared about my grades. He recently passed away
and I will forever miss him and his voice. I will always think of this
man when I step into the show arena. My two ag teachers [Mr. Sullivan
and Mr. Marcath] play a huge role in my ability to show, and my Dad
and Momma,” she said.
Beyla competes locally at the Parker County Livestock Show. She is a
huge part of the Brock FFA and a Brock High School cheerleader when
she’s not showing. She would like to do something in the medical field
when she grows up. “A nurse or a physical therapist,” she said.
