JW: For my love of God, my love of my family, a good husband, father, and grandfather, serving others, and being a good friend. Joe is the Community Volunteer and Advocate for Parker County PCT: What’s your favorite way to pay it forward? JW: Being active in several orga- nizations like the Rotary Club of Weatherford allows me to serve others. Being a part of a local grass- roots committee working to establish a recreation and aquatics center for all of Parker County. The center would include an indoor 8-lane swimming pool, indoor leisure pool, basketball courts, walking tract, meet- ing rooms, party rooms and child watch. I am also active as an Elected Precinct Chair in the Parker County Republican Party. Parker County Today: How did you get into your occupation? JW: I began my career out of college as a bank examiner for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation for several years, before moving into banking. In 2010, I returned to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation in the Division of Resolutions and Receiverships resolv- ing failed bank issues. PCT: What is your favorite novel? JW: I enjoy any novel by Tom Clancy or John Grisham. PCT: What do you do to decompress? JW: What’s that? Seriously, I like to play golf, pickleball, tennis, gathering with family and friends, or working in the yard. 90 PCT: What is something people don’t know about you? JW: I am an old rock and roller and when I was in college at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, I got the opportunity to pick up the Doobie Brothers in my 1971 Mercury station wagon and take them to their hotel and to the concert. I got to watch the concert from side stage. Visited with them in San Antonio PCT: If you could have lunch with anyone, who would be?  JW: It would be two people. First would be Abraham Lincoln for his honesty and his work and his vision to unite our country after the Civil War. Second would be my Dad; I miss the trips where my Dad would fly his Cessna plane from Steamboat Springs and pick me up for lunch. PCT: If you had to do another job than what you’re doing, what would you do? JW: I would be playing golf on the Champions Tour. Recently, I had the opportunity to meet and visit with Tom Watson at the Careity Celebrity Cutting event and our discussion reminded how much I love the game of golf.   PCT: What is your definition of the best day every?  JW: Spending the day with my fami- ly, either gathered around the dinner table, or enjoying the outdoors. PCT: What’s the best piece of advice you would give?  JW: First, never give up in anything you do. The second is always be humble and kind. PCT: What is the coolest thing you feel you have done in your life? JW: The opportunity to raise my three children as a single dad for several years. DL: I would like to be remembered for loving God and showing His mercy through kindness. PCT: What’s your favorite way to pay it forward? DL: I am very active on the Children’s Advocacy Center of Parker County Board and I feel like a lot of the things I do there help me pay it forward to people I don’t even know.  PCT: If you could have lunch with anyone, who would be?
