Joe Wilkinson PCT: What would you most like to be
remembered for?
JW: For my love of God, my love of
my family, a good husband, father,
and grandfather, serving others, and
being a good friend.
Joe is the Community Volunteer
and Advocate for Parker
County
PCT: What’s your favorite way to pay
it forward?
JW: Being active in several orga-
nizations like the Rotary Club of
Weatherford allows me to serve
others. Being a part of a local grass-
roots committee working to establish
a recreation and aquatics center
for all of Parker County. The center
would include an indoor 8-lane
swimming pool, indoor leisure pool,
basketball courts, walking tract, meet-
ing rooms, party rooms and child
watch. I am also active as an Elected
Precinct Chair in the Parker County
Republican Party.
Parker County Today: How did you
get into your occupation?
JW: I began my career out of college
as a bank examiner for the Federal
Deposit Insurance Corporation
for several years, before moving
into banking. In 2010, I returned
to the Federal Deposit Insurance
Corporation in the Division of
Resolutions and Receiverships resolv-
ing failed bank issues.
PCT: What is your favorite novel?
JW: I enjoy any novel by Tom Clancy
or John Grisham.
PCT: What do you do to decompress?
JW: What’s that? Seriously, I like to
play golf, pickleball, tennis, gathering
with family and friends, or working in
the yard.

PCT: What is something people don’t
know about you?
JW: I am an old rock and roller
and when I was in college at New
Mexico State University in Las
Cruces, I got the opportunity to pick
up the Doobie Brothers in my 1971
Mercury station wagon and take them
to their hotel and to the concert. I got
to watch the concert from side stage.
Visited with them in San Antonio
PCT: If you could have lunch with
anyone, who would be?
JW: It would be two people. First
would be Abraham Lincoln for his
honesty and his work and his vision
to unite our country after the Civil
War. Second would be my Dad; I
miss the trips where my Dad would
fly his Cessna plane from Steamboat
Springs and pick me up for lunch.
PCT: If you had to do another job
than what you’re doing, what would
you do?
JW: I would be playing golf on the
Champions Tour. Recently, I had the
opportunity to meet and visit with
Tom Watson at the Careity Celebrity
Cutting event and our discussion
reminded how much I love the game
of golf.
PCT: What is your definition of the
best day every?
JW: Spending the day with my fami-
ly, either gathered around the dinner
table, or enjoying the outdoors.
PCT: What’s the best piece of advice
you would give?
JW: First, never give up in anything
you do. The second is always be
humble and kind.
PCT: What is the coolest thing you
feel you have done in your life?
JW: The opportunity to raise my three
children as a single dad for several
years. Being married to the love of
my life and my best friend.
