You can get a room in the vintage farmhouse or choose “the tent.”
We fell in love with “The Tent,” an Out of Africa-style safari tent, called
the Sundancer on the Brazos.
What’s more romantic than roughing it in the wild? Roughing it in a tent is
more fun when the tent is fully climate-controlled (OK. I admit it, I don’t enjoy
sweltering nor do I want to freeze my fingers off when I’ve planned a roman-
tic getaway. I’m a writer. I need all my fingers), and one can have a luxurious
bath, a small kitchen (it’s perfect, small enough to make great coffee and heat
up hors d’oeuvres, but not so big that anyone will expect any real cooking
from you), a wood-fired hot tub and all the comforts of home with none of the
responsibilities or distractions.
Although the ranch sits on 350 acres, you’re within 10 minutes of great
golfing (Sugar Tree and Canyon West are just a few minutes away), some very
