normal adoption rates are very low consid- ering the services an adopter receives with each adoption,“ said Ashley Woolnough, Animal Services Manager. “Each adop- tion comes with a round of basic vaccines, flea and tick prevention, rabies vaccine, a microchip and spay/neuter. Those services run much more than our adoption fee if you were to get those services elsewhere. Our low adoption rates are: $100 female dogs, $90 male dogs and only $50 for cats.”  We still have a way to go concerning pet responsibility, but more and more cities and towns are adopting different ways to save our pets’ lives. New York City recently opened Pals Place, something Senior Animal Care Specialist Kenzie Montgomery is especially passionate about. “I was sent a link that announced the opening of Pals Place, a seven-story shel- ter designed and outfitted for survivor-pet co-living,” Montgomery said. “This supports a cause very near to my heart and I would like nothing more than to be able to bring this type of support to those in need. Offer- ing people a safe haven where they can bring their loving pets is a lifesaver.” Donate online at: weatherfordtx.gov/animals Whoever said Diamonds are a girl’s best friend... Never owned a dog.
