n a world where everyone needs to be comforted at
one time or another, it’s not surprising that a Golden
Retriever from Chicago has the ability to brighten the lives
of so many people, including those facing cancer.
Dr. Ray Page with The Center for Cancer and Blood
Disorders first found out about Phoebe after the charity
came and visited his church, and he later found out that
her handlers are members of his church.
“They would come and visit, and take care of the kids
in the nursery and look after our folks, doing the nurturing
care that she [Phoebe] does so well,” Page said. “When I
met Phoebe and her handlers in the church, I said she has
got to come to our cancer center and provide care to my
cancer patients. We provide comprehensive cancer care
