our our biz: biz: BUSINESS BUSINESS SENSE SENSE Talk with the Business Titans SHANNON LEVERTON Owner/Founder - Diamond L Enterprises BY CHRISTINA LOVELESS PCT: What kind of services do you offer? SL: We offer Pipeline ROW services including clearing, brush/debris removal, seeding and fertilizing; new construction; and we provide 10-30 cubic yard debris bins for construction debris, complete new construction debris removal and bulk debris pickups. OCTOBER 2015 PA R K E R C O U N T Y T O D AY PCT: Who is your ideal customer? SL: Our ideal customers include builders, developers and general contractors. Outside of traditional construction, we also work closely with oilfield contractors including pipeline installation companies, pipeline maintenance companies and pipeline owner/operators. We also help existing home owners, farms and ranchers. PCT: Why are you the better option? SL: For the Commercial/Residential Builder, we are 1938% cheaper than conventional dumpsters If we train the subs to clean up after themselves, the builder can save another 45-60 cents per foot on construction cleaning. So, if you take a 2,500-squarefoot house, you would see an additional savings between $1,125-1,500. For demolition jobs (house/commercial and mobile homes), we are faster, use less equipment and have more production and hauling capacity with our specially-built trucks. For brush cleanup, the average dump truck will have 10-15 cubic yards. Our specialized trucks will haul in one load 130 cubic yards in under 10 minutes and is 100 percent selfcontained. It would take 9-13 fully loaded dump trucks to do what one of ours will do. Our trucks can haul 6-10 loads a day, which equates to 780-1300 cubic yards. It would take 78-130 dump trucks to do the same job. For disaster response, we have a large roster of trucks ready to deploy for small or large events to help recover the community in days instead of months. Diamond L Enterprises can assist with FEMA funding to assist the community in reimbursement of funds. PCT: Where do you hope to see the business in f ive years? SL: Although the oil and gas market has been a mainstay 60 for Diamond L Enterprises since its inception, there are many more markets we are benefiting. With so many markets we can cover with these specialty build trucks, we will continue to have a pipeline debris removal and mitigation; we will continue to pioneer the containment industry with our new system; we will continue to promote a greener disposal system, recycling metal, wood, concrete, etc. Regarding recycling, on large projects we even give credit back with marketable recyclables to offset the cost of the customer’s total debris removal cost. It keeps the product out of the local landfill, which has standalone benefits. In five years, my son, Hunter, will have a large part of the development and the operations of Diamond L Enterprises. I hope we can build the business, so in due time, he will take over the operations 100 percent and be able to sustain his family, and yet provide the same service we have been able to provide for years. PCT: What is something interesting about yourself that others might not know? SL: I was a State Farm Commercial claim representative as well as a manager for many years. While deployed, helping and assisting with natural disasters, I had several friends in disaster debris cleanup and relief work. It appealed to me. Although I was helping policy holders recover, I wanted more satisfaction in my work. I traded
