Want Great Gifts?
Shop Local
Heed Advice of W’ford
Chamber of Commerce
Did you know that when you
shop locally the money you spend
would help boost our local economy
and improve the lives of those living
in Weatherford? Local citizens are the
key to making our local economic
growth and quality of life improve-
ments a reality.
When we spend our money lo-
cally, it begins the first of five local
transactions. When you dissect each
of these transactions, you will also
find that sales tax has been collected
on each of them. Last year, the City of
Weatherford collected approximately
$12,546,000 in local sales tax, and
makes up a percent of the city’s Gen-
eral Operating Fund. Our local police
and fire department are paid through
this fund, our streets are maintained
through money allocated, and our
parks department and public library
are also operated because of this
money. So when it is said that shop-
ping locally can improve the lives of
people living in Weatherford, you can
now see this is true.
What can we do? We can
think twice before first heading to Fort
Worth to shop. Ask ourselves; can
we find it here and save time and gas
money? Do we want to help Weath-
erford’s economy and improve the
quality of life in our own community?
When we buy in other towns we help
pay their taxes, pay their wages, pay
for their improvements and help to
make them prosper. When we shop
Weatherford First, we help ensure
successful local growth, which in turn
creates local jobs in our community.
The more we support local business,
the more local business support the
community.
How do you start shopping local?
You can start by attending the Weath-
erford Chamber of Commerce Annual
Christmas on the Square Holiday
Celebration in Historic Downtown

kick off the festivities starting at 10:00
a.m. Families will be coming to enjoy
a full day of fun, festive activities in
the beautiful downtown area. The

Weatherford Ninth Grade Center and
make its way up South Main, around
the Courthouse, head West on Palo
Pinto Street and pass by Cherry Park.

of Weatherford and immerse yourself
in the sights and sounds of the season.
Take advantage of the great shop-
ping and special treats available in
the downtown stores. Hot chocolate,
cupcakes, cookies and candy canes
are just a few of the goodies that
you will find around every corner.
Businesses and organizations will be
thanking the community for their sup-
port throughout this year by handing
out all kinds of samples and delicious
nibblings. Many of the vendors and
stores will offer special prices and
sales, so you can stock up on Holi-
day gifts while you enjoy the festive
atmosphere!

friendly activities for all to enjoy.

the live entertainment stage that will
