originated “Christmas in April,” currently the “Spring Fix
‘n Clean” — financial assistance for the elderly to repair
their houses.
• Campbell Hospital Women’s Advisory Board, begin-
ning in 1999. Bryan organized this advisory board for the
hospital for the purpose of promoting new medical staff,
new facilities and addressing women’s health issues.
• Parker County 4-H Campaign Fund Board, beginning in
1996. Bryan assisted in the organization of this board to
raise funds for an arena and building for 4-H members.
• Weatherford Civic Development Board, beginning in
2000.
• Weatherford/Parker County Community Foundation
Board, began in 1994.
Assisted in organizing this foundation to build a
Convention Center.
• Bowie Campus Improvement Team Board – Oversees
grant money received by this elementary school.
• Initiatives for Child Board. Bryan organized this board
to assist businesses that have employees who need child-
care; supported by grant money.
• Main Street Advisory Board, began in 2000. Assisted in
organizing this board for the purpose of revitalizing the
historic downtown area.
• PCLIA Board, Public Relations, beginning in 1998.
Recruited businesses to underwrite or to market youth
projects, such as animals/crops, etc.
• SIFE: Student in Free Enterprise, Advisory Board,
Weatherford College.
Beginning in 1993, Bryan acted as professional advisor
and was instrumental in helping to raise funds as neces-
sary for trips to competitions.
• College Agriculture Advisory Board, beginning in 1994.
Bryan created this board to advise, support and help raise
funds for the Weatherford College Agriculture Department
and was instrumental in establishing the Ag/Vet Tech
program and the funding for the new building.
• Partners in Education Board, began in 1994. Bryan “job
shadowed” with students.
• WISD Community Education Advisory Board, 1986.
This board’s purpose was to ensure that the residents
of Parker County have opportunities for growth through
Community Education.
• Freedom House Board. Served seven years as vice pres-
ident. Bryan helped organize the board to offer shelter for
victims of family violence and support services, such as
counseling, medical and financial aid for education.
• Weatherford International Rotary, from 1992. Executive
Board four years.
• Weatherford Chamber of Commerce Ambassador,
beginning in 1982.
• District Educational Improvement Committee at Millsap
ISD.
• Parker County Executives Association.
• ZONTA International – treasurer.
Accomplishments/Honors
• Recognized by Texas State Governor’s Commission on
Women as a nominee for the 2002 Texas Women’s Hall
of Fame.
• State of Texas “Hero For Children” Award 2001 –
Chosen for State District 14 by the Texas State Board of
Education. Bryan’s name is permanently engraved on the
wall of the William B. Travis Building, across from the
Capitol Building in Austin.
• Selected as an Example of Financial Leadership 2001
by First Financial Bankshares of Abilene (which was
parent company of Weatherford National Bank, Bryan’s
employer).
• Established Endowed Scholarship to Weatherford
College for Agriculture students – Mrs. Bryan and
husband Dr. Noel Bryan endowed this scholarship
awarded annually to a deserving Ag student who needs
financial assistance to continue education.
• Weatherford ISD Banking Program. Beginning in 1995,
Bryan created and organized this banking program for
students, kindergarten through sixth grades, at all elemen-
tary schools in Weatherford. Students participate in real
banking and receive accrued interest on their savings
accounts.
• Anna Hackett “Teacher of the Year” Award – Bryan
created this award which is presented each year to a
deserving teacher to encourage the recipient in his or her
contribution to the youth of Parker County.
• Co-originated and organized the Weatherford College
“Coyote Chase Race,” an annual 1K and 5K walk/run, a
scholarship fundraiser.
• Weatherford Volunteer of the Year Award, 1962.
• Chamber of Commerce Ambassador of the Year Award
for four separate years.
• Rotarian of the Year Award, 1997-98.
• Rotary Clubwoman of the Year, 2000.
• US Air Force Appreciation Award, 1987-1994 – For
helping recruits find housing.
• Weatherford College Athletic Department – Secured
donations for concession stand to fund transport of
basketball players to national competition.
• PASS (Positive Alternatives to School Success) – Bryan
assisted in planning and supporting graduation activities
each year for the students.
• Weatherford College ABLE (A Better Life Through
Education) Program – Bryan assisted in fundraising efforts
to support this program for single-parent mothers who
cannot financially afford to go to college otherwise.
Helped raise funds for the mothers and children to have
Christmas and to purchase school supplies and clothing.
• Cuttin’ Capital Celebration Committee, 2001. Co-chair/
marketing and publicity. Fundraiser for Campbell Hospital
Hepatitis C victims.
