Clay has also won Best-Fitted Dairy Heifer and judging at the Parker County Youth Livestock Show along with the Grand Champion title with his steer and a Grand Champion Shorthorn at the Peaster Livestock Show. Besides Clay’s interests in showing livestock, he plays basketball, enjoys riding horses and likes hunting and fishing. He is very active in his church as well. In school, Clay’s favorite subjects are reading and language arts. Clay is also the treasurer for the Peaster 4-H and vice president of the Parker County Council. Clay’s best advice to other aspiring young livestock enthusiasts is to make sure you have a strong commitment before getting involved, adding that you also need to be devoted to making time for your animals. “Feed your animals before you feed yourself,” Clay said. Clay feels that showing livestock has been a valuable educational experience, teaching him responsibility and reliability.
