Clay has also won Best-Fitted Dairy
Heifer and judging at the Parker
County Youth Livestock Show along
with the Grand Champion title with
his steer and a Grand Champion
Shorthorn at the Peaster Livestock
Show.
Besides Clay’s interests in showing
livestock, he plays basketball, enjoys
riding horses and likes hunting and
fishing. He is very active in his church
as well.
In school, Clay’s favorite subjects
are reading and language arts. Clay
is also the treasurer for the Peaster
4-H and vice president of the Parker
County Council.
Clay’s best advice to other aspiring
young livestock enthusiasts is to make
sure you have a strong commitment
before getting involved, adding
that you also need to be devoted to
making time for your animals.
“Feed your animals before you feed
yourself,” Clay said.
Clay feels that showing livestock
has been a valuable educational
experience, teaching him
responsibility and reliability.
