PCT: What are the differences between drill
team and studio?
NK: Drill Team is very precision-based and
performs all styles of dance throughout the
year in a team setting. Studios generally
concentrate on one style of dance per class
and students take multiple hours per week.
Just For Kix concentrates on ballet technique
in the Kix classes while exploring vario us
styles throughout the year (i.e., jazz, pom, lyrical, and kick). Students also have the opportunity to take hip hop classes and customized
jazz technique classes. We have one costume
per class for the entire year and the instruction
is not only quality but affordable.
NK: Give it a try! We offer dancers the first
class free so they can try the class to see if it is
a good fit for them. Start early in instruction and
realize that every dancer will start and progress
at different rates. Our JFK classes are age-based,
not skill-based, so they can dance with friends
and meet new ones while developing their skills
at their own pace. Our classes are challenging
yet fun and successful for every dancer.
Our staff includes me, Nika Carter – 35 years
of teaching experience in dance; Shelby Carter
– 18 years of dance experience, Tyler Junior
College Apache Belle Dance Captain, SMU
Pom Squad, Weatherford Blue Belle Captain
and UTA Kinesiology Senior with emphasis in
Coaching and Teaching; Holly Wells – Forever
Belle and mom of two dancers; and Kayla
Plocar – Blue Belle Senior Lieutenant and
current Weatherford College Sophomore.
