our our biz: biz: BUSINESS BUSINESS SENSE SENSE Talk with the Business Titans NIKA CARTER Field Coordinator at Just For Kix – Texas BY KATIE RODGERS PCT: How did you get involved with Just For Kix (JFK)? NK: I retired from Weatherford Independent School District in 2011 after 30 years of teaching. I created the WHS Blue Belles in 1981-82 and expanded it in 30 years to include the JV Jazz, Hall Highsteppers, Tison Allstars, and nine Dance PE classes. When I retired, I wanted to continue teaching dance and Just For Kix gave me the perfect opportunity to teach dancers ages 3 years through adult in a recreational type setting. Currently I am starting my fifth year in Aledo and Weatherford and have approximately 160 dancers and we perform at various community events and host annual Christmas and Spring Shows.  NOVEMBER 2015 PA R K E R C O U N T Y T O D AY PCT: What’s your favorite thing about the business? NK: I love teaching dance to all ages and watching dancers fall in love with dance and then grow into their skills and achieve their dance dreams.  PCT: Where do you hope to see Just For Kix in five years? NK: I want to still be teaching and enjoying dance with more and more dancers. We also hope to continue the recreational side of dance and add a competitive dance team too!  PCT: What is one of the funniest memories you have since you’ve been involved in JFK?  NK: I’m not sure how funny it is, but I love it 60 Mike and Nika Carter when my students run into class and practically tackle my staff and me because they are so excited to dance. We have fun while offering technique and skill building. We have friends and family dance night where everyone learns a Flash mob style of dance, we have special performances and class dress up nights for holidays, and we perform at special events like the Dallas Mavericks games, Weatherford Bullets,
