The club house was transformed
from concrete floors and rustic wood
into a romantic wedding venue,
complete with plum, cream, and
navy colors. The family flower, the
Grote Cockscomb, were abundant
and the groom wore a plum calla lily
on his lapel. Dorothy Grote was the
wedding planner and designer, with
her son Koy Grote, of Weatherford,
crafting the backdrop for the
ceremony. Dorothy’s husband Jeff
and daughter Courtney also helped
transform the room.
As the groom came down the
aisle, he paused to spin around in a
circular victory lap, evoking laughter
from the guests. The groom’s mother,
89-year-old-Doris Grote of Mason,
Texas, was the official carrier of
the rings. Her sister, 95-year-old
Lorine Kasper Metz, as well as the
groom’s 3 brothers and their wives
were all in attendance. Other family
members came from Oklahoma,
College Station, Mount Pleasant,
and Belton. The groom’s children
and grandchildren were also in
attendance, with Tucker Morton, his
oldest grandson singing before the
wedding began.
