an opportunity to speak. At the end
of the evening, the winners were
announced in each of the four
categories, Bachelorette of the Year,
Charity of the Year, Benevolent
Bachelorette of the Year and Dessert
Chef of the Year.
The Bachelorette of the Year
for 2015 is Sawyer Burmeister who
raised $22,944.71. Benevolent
Bachelorette of the Year was Micah
Fox.
“I feel appreciative to be in a
position to raise awareness for a
good cause,” Sawyer said. Along
with fundraising in the Parker County
community, Sawyer also visited the
Senior Center at least once a week
joining in its activities and participated in Meals-on-Wheels.
“It was a life changing experience
and an eye opener for the most part
to see how some people live,” she
said. “I plan to go up there as much
as I can. We are throwing a pizza
party to let them know we won. I

don’t want to just raise money and
just go away. I plan to stay involved
with the Senior Center,” she said.
The Charity of the Year was
Parker County Committee on Aging
(PCCOA). PCCOA Board Vice
President Shelly Mowery was obviously shining with pride for the hard
work completed by her daughter and
proclaimed that there were no losers
in this competition since all of the
money raised went to great charities. PCCOA Board President Prissy
Neely said, “The Committee was
thoroughly excited because, number
one, that money comes straight back
to the Senior Center and we have
many places where that money can
help.”
Some of Sawyer’s fundraising was
done one-on-one with the seniors in
the current Senior Center located on
Holland Lake Road in Weatherford.
“She did a beautiful job,” Neely
said. “Working with the seniors out in
the big room she was just marvelous
Dance Floor
and they loved her out there. That’s
why she got so many $1 bills [donations] out there I think. She did a
marvelous job and we were very
proud of her and very excited when
she won.”
The Chef of the Year was Sylvia
Bram from Tequilas. It is the second
year in a row that Bram won the
dessert Chef of the Year at the event.
“It feels so good that we have the
support of a lot of people. We thank
Parker County Today for always inviting us to participate. It’s not about
winning or losing, it’s about supporting. But it’s rewarding to take the
trophy home. I’m super excited,”
Bram said.
Adding together the funds raised
by the Bachelors in June of this
year and the Bachelorettes, about
$110,000 has been raised for charity
by these Parker County singles. Over
the past five years, the two events
have raised more than $600,000.
