The other side is sadness and depression. He is eating an onion. Sometimes life gives us things we have to eat. We can cry about it, but it doesn’t mean we have to stay in that state.” Be the middle monkey, Jimmy says, because it represents equilibrium. “I call her Monkey Lisa because she holds a secret. You know you’re going to be sad and cry and you need to take chances and be daredevils, but you stay in the center part. Don’t be afraid — basically have a balanced life.” Another mural, Independence Day, was finished on July 4, 2017, on the side of The Durty Crow, 2801 Crockett St. It’s autobiographic in that the top-hatted and tuxedoed man with drink in hand and cigar in mouth (described briefly above) represents Jimmy in the clutches of crows, darkness. The crows are undealt with things in life we all carry around with us like excess baggage. Jimmy said they must be dealt with and seen for what they are: enemies of equilibrium.  Through the series of murals and the companion book he plans to write (which will be narrated by the wise Monkey Lisa) Jimmy hopes to help others navigate life, to arrive at a place less driven by societal “norms” than by a desire to live a meaningful, balanced life. “One of the things I wanted to do was be able to make a living at art and then be able to help people by giving them a message or a story they can look at and maybe impact them or make them think differently, to want a more balanced life. I think if people know what’s going on in their lives they can make better changes. Formerly from Weatherford, Jimmy said he hopes soon to do a mural on a historic building on the Weatherford Square. He wouldn’t give much away about it, but did say he’s been talking to Parker County Today’s editor/publisher about it. Stay tuned.
