Dr. Jack Eidson Physician Excellence
Award — Dr. Chris Happ
Dr. Christopher Happ wasn’t born in Texas, but he made it here as
fast as he could. In 2013, he moved here from Peru, Illinois for his
spine surgery fellowship at the Texas Back Institute in Plano. Chris and
his wife moved east of Aledo in 2014, and he started his practice in
Weatherford. They also have four beautiful children, Clark, Lilly, Alice
and Violet. With Happ also being an assistant coach for his son’s base-
ball team, both parents spend their days running to sports activities
and school events. They enjoy supporting local education and charity
causes, especially the Aledo Education Foundation and Aledo AdvoCats,
along with local wildlife conservation efforts.
“My wife and I used to volunteer at free health clinics in medical
school and residency, and I have been to Ethiopia on a spine surgery
mission trip, which was very humbling and rewarding,” Happ said. “As
the kids get older, I hope to make that a yearly trip so they appreciate
their life here in Texas. We truly care about our local community and
are always looking for ways to give back to our community.”
Happ has served as chief resident and was the recipient of the
Raymond J. Schluter Award, which is given to the top performing
resident. He also was the recipient of an award as top performer in a
fellowship. Recently, he was nominated as one of Fort Worth’s Top
Docs. Even with all of his awards and experience, Happ says that his
biggest accomplishment is being a father, and that it’s also the hardest
and most rewarding job he has.
