our taste: RESTAURANT REVIEW Bangkok Thai Cuisine & Sushi Bar — A Welcome Addition to Weatherford Restaurant Offerings BY THE WEATHERFORD FOODIE I went for dinner with two friends searching for Asian food on Main Street in Weatherford and found Bangkok Thai Cuisine & Sushi Bar, located on the south end of the same strip shopping center as Papa John’s Pizza, Sunny Street Café, Subway and Rio Mambo. This one shopping center provides food for a wide-variety of tastes. The exterior is attractive with eye-catching vertical striped awnings over the entry door and lovely landscaping throughout the entire center.  Upon entering the eatery you see a large restaurant with many tables and booths and a sandwich board showing the daily entrée and sushi specials. Our party was ushered through the spotless dining area to a booth near the 10-seat-sushi bar and we were provided menus.  The offerings included Korean barbecue, Sushi rolls, fried rice, noodles and various types of house specialties.  Everything looked so good it was hard to choose, so my companions decided not to. Instead, they decided to order two entrees and share — a novel approach for sure.  Service was attentive but not hovering, as our server returned with our drinks and saw us straining to read PA R K E R C O U N T Y T O D AY Weatherford Foodie can also be found on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Yelp, Urbanspoon, Foursquare, Pinterest and at weatherfordfoodie.com MAY 2016 the menu in the low light conditions. Our server went and adjusted the lights, making them brighter, which was impressive. We never asked for this and he never said anything about it. It’s a good example of an attentive, observant server. WELL DONE!  I ordered the sesame chicken from the specials board and my companions decided to share sweet and sour chicken and pineapple fried rice with pineapple, chicken, onions, tomatoes, eggs, raisins and roasted cashews.  We placed our dinner order and were soon treated to a small lettuce salad, prepared with a nest of carrot strings on top. The salad was just the right size to ignite our hunger and tasted bright, with a definite orange/ citrus flavor in the dressing. As the beautiful dinner plates were delivered I could see that each plate had been carefully arranged, because you eat with your eyes first. I was hoping the food tasted as good as it looked. I wasn’t disappointed.  Each entrée was well-prepared and flavorful. The rice was cooked just right and I especially noticed that the chicken was not overcooked, undercooked or rubbery. The flavors married perfectly and were all thoroughly enjoyable.  Overall, it was a very pleasant meal. There are many options available for dessert but instead I satisfied an urge for Blue Bell cookies and cream ice cream at home.  I enjoyed the food, restaurant, service and dinner company and will return to try some other offerings.  Recommended — Bangkok Thai Cuisine & Sushi Bar is open Monday through Sunday for lunch 11 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. and dinner 4:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. and to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
