A Little History:  Colorado Bend State Park is west of Lampasas. The Texas Parks & Wildlife Department purchased part of the park in 1984, and the rest in 1987. The 5,328.3-acre park opened in 1987. The park is on the former sites of the Gorman and Lemons ranches above Lake Buchanan. Where? The Park is Located 30 miles west of Lampasas on CR 446. RV Accommodations: Basic Campsites (Drive-up) Maximum People per Site: 8 Number of Sites: 15 Sites 35-47 are approximately 75-100 yards from the river and have a picnic table, fire ring with cooking grill, and a lantern holder. Potable water is in the area, but not at each site. No hookups of any kind. Only self-contained RVs (up to 30 feet) are allowed. Generators must be turned off at 10 p.m. No RV sewage disposal facilities are available here.
