MR : After the 2008 market crash , a friend and I decided we wanted to do something that was ‘ recession proof ’. There were only a couple of options so we went with men ’ s grooming . We started our adventure right here in Parker County in 2009 .
PCT : What is your favorite novel ? MR : My favorite novel ( at the moment ) is American Gods , by Neil Gaiman . It ’ s a really great ( fiction ) which imaginatively explores myths , legends and the gods of old world religions in America , as well as some of the more modern ‘ gods ’ that our society has created . More importantly , it ’ s a book that sparks that childlike imagination that so many of us ‘ gown-ups ’ lose along the way to adulthood .
PCT : What do you do to decompress ? MR : When I ’ m really feeling stressed out I like to get out , literally . I like to go out on the road for an unplanned road trip and see where I end up . I like to hit a state or national park
and camp for a while . Always with a camera in hand , as photography is a major part of that decompression .
PCT : What is something people don ’ t know about you ? MR : Most friends know most things about me ; I ’ m pretty much an open book . But I ’ ve been told that I need a shirt that says “ May be smarter than he appears .” Not many people know that I applied for the Mars One program ; a one way trip to Mars . I made the initial selection but didn ’ t make it to the advanced selection stage .
PCT : What would you most like to be remembered for ? MR : I think we all wanted to be remembered as good people who made a positive difference . For me , I would like to be remember for positively changing the way people think about their lives and the possibilities in it . I don ’ t want to be one of those famous life coach people though . I like to keep it simple ; one on one .
PCT : If you could have lunch with any one , either living or dead from history , who would it be ? MR : That ’ s a hard one . There are so many people throughout history . I would say Marcus Aurelius or Charles F Haanel ; both of them have changed the way I think through their recorded ( written ) words .
PCT : If you had to do another job than what you ’ re doing , what would you do ? MR : I would help people find and live in their happiness .
PCT : What is your impact to Parker County ? MR : I honestly can ’ t say what my impact is to Parker County , but , I would like to say that it ’ s positive , in small ways . I always try to treat people well , encourage them to be their best selves and leave them better off than I found them . In turn , I hope that creates a ripple effect that forever impacts Parker County .
