Q: What is your favorite movie? A: I really enjoy sci-fi movies like The Star Wars series and Star Trek. I am also an action movie junkie, so I love anything with fast cars, explosions, and shoot ‘em-ups! I like Bad Boys, Fast & Furious, and pretty much any movie with Dwayne Johnson in it. Q: What kind of music are you into? A: All music — country, disco, classic rock, pop, blues. Music is so important to me and my family. Q: What’s the most daring thing you’ve ever done? A: Well, some would say that riding my Harley-Davidson is daring! But probably the most daring thing I did was quit a high-paying job to go to law school. Q: What accomplishment are you most proud of? A: Raising two smart, kind-hearted, wonderful kids as a single mom for five years (although I’m happily married now). After that, going to law school and building a successful law practice where I have tried over 100 jury trials and handled over 2,000 cases, both as a prosecutor and a defense attorney. Q: When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? A: I had absolutely no idea! My dad was a firefighter, so I thought that would be a fun thing to do. Q: How did you get into your field? A: I was desperate for a change from my previous profession. After a long discussion with my brother, I decided to go to law school. Once there, I always knew what I wanted to do. I set my goals and fulfilled each one of them. I was a prosecutor for three years and worked very hard to gain invaluable experience. Then I opened my own law practice and have built a successful business practicing law here in Parker County where I have handled over 2,000 cases in all four of our Parker County Courts. Q: Would you recommend your career for other people? Why?  A: Unfortunately, we are saturated with lawyers. It’s a tough field in which to succeed nowadays. But I absolutely love what I do and take my job very seriously. For me, it is a very fulfilling profession. I have practiced law for 22 years and have been fortunate enough to have prosecuted and defended cases, so it has given me a unique perspective. Now that I’m running for judge, I will get to put all that experience to good use. Q: What do you do to relax? A: I ride my Harley every chance I get. I have a 2013 yellow HarleyDavidson Street Glide. I ride with my husband and a group of friends. Q: If you could visit any place in the world, where would you go? A: Number one on my bucket list is a photo safari to Africa. I am a wildlife fanatic and am fascinated by all wildlife. Q: What period in history would you most like to travel to? A: Exactly the time period from which I came! I loved the 70s, bell-bottom corduroy hip-huggers and disco! Q: If someone asked you for your best piece of advice, what would you say? A: Always be true to yourself. Dump the negative people from your life — ain’t nobody got time for that! Q. What is the one thing that makes you happy? A: Family and friends and my motorcycle. Oops, that’s three! Q: What makes you really sad? A: Animal cruelty and mean, miserable people. Q: What scares you? A: Losing one of my children. Nothing else. Q: Who in your life has influenced you the most? How?  A: My parents. They taught me to speak up for myself and to be assertive. They never spoke of the possi bility of failure, but that I could do anything I wanted to do. They believed in me and planted that faith in me. Q: What would you most like to be remembered for? A: Making a difference in people’s lives and not being afraid to take a stand. Most people these days are afraid to take a stand. If you don’t stand up for what you believe in, then you can’t complain about the outcome. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Stanton A.
