Get a Kick Out of FFA
BY CHRISTINA LOVELESS
C
ora Cocke, Grace Holder, and Kennedy Box,
junior, sophomore and freshman respectively, are
members of the Weatherford High School Blue Belles
Drill Team and participants in the FFA program at
WHS.
Between the three, they have won numerous
awards. Cora won 5th in the area for range, and she is
also on the radio team with Grace, who won 3rd place
in district, and they went to state last year for range.
Kennedy won 2nd for district with the team and 2nd
place in quiz team. They are looking forward to their
dance competition, state convention, and the annual
spring show, which will be held this March.
Their advice for others for doing more than one
sport is time management and responsibility. Kennedy
mentioned that it’s important to “learn how to manage your time and be responsible with whatever you
are doing.”
After high school, Kennedy plans to pursue her
degree at Tarleton State University and ultimately become a doctor of veterinary medicine. Cora wants to
go to Texas Tech with hopes of becoming an occupational therapist. Her ultimate goal is to help children
with special needs. “I have a brother with autism,
and it is something that I have always wanted to do,”
Cora said. Grace is still deciding. “There are so many
things that I want to do,” Grace said with a laugh. “I
can’t just pick one.”
