Q: What do you do to relax? A: I really enjoy spending time with family and friends. I love going to the beach, listening to the waves and taking time to recharge. Q: If you could visit any place in the world, where would you go? A: I don’t know. I’m pretty happy where I am. Q: What person from history would you most like to have lunch with? A: Thomas Jefferson. I really enjoy going to Washington, D.C., and spending time reading the writings of leaders of our country at the monuments. Q: If someone asked you for your best piece of advice, what would you say? A: Do the right thing, for the right reason, right now. Q. What’s your favorite hobby? A: Politics and grandchildren, but not in that order. Q. What is the one thing that makes you happy? A: Mike, my amazing husband, best friend and partner in life, and my boys and grandboys, my family and friends. Something else that makes me happy is seeing people secure and comfortable in their relationship with the Lord. Q: What makes you really sad? A: Watching the consequences of bad decisions and disobedience play out. Q: What scares you? A: A country that has forgotten. Not unlike Thomas Jefferson, I fear for a country that has forgotten. Q: If you could go back in history, what era would you like to land in? A: This one! Why would I want to be somewhere other than where I am? We all romanticize about another time, but I don’t really have any desire to be somewhere else. Q: Who in your life has influenced you the most? How? A: My grandma. She was steady, unconditional love and she was always there for me. My grandma had the opportunity to love me unconditionally without the day-to-day responsibility. She taught me to cook and to sew. I remember when I was making the first apple pie I ever made “by myself,” my grandma took a ladder and climbed up on the house and picked apples from the very top of the tree for me because the apples on the top were always the sweetest. When I found out that I was about to be a grandmother, a friend asked me what I wanted my grandbaby to call me. I said, “Grandma.” My friend told me I was too young to be, “Grandma.” I said, I couldn’t think of anything better than being, “Grandma, with the hope that someday I could live up to my Grandma’s standard.” Q: What would you most like to be remembered for? A: Love. Continued on page 12 Dr. Kris Cares! Medical Concierge Service Sign up now to receive 10% off spa services! Excludes injectables.
