our taste: RESTAURANT REVIEW
Outskirtz Grill — Tiny Restaurant/Big Taste
Amidst Humble Surroundings Is Found One Spectacular Burger
BY THE WEATHERFORD FOODIE
and there was quite a bit of sharing going
on. The bacon cheeseburger was the right
size for my appetite and my onion rings
were just right; the onion did not pull away
from the breading. My companion’s Philly
cheese steak was as close to perfect as I’ve
ever had. The bun was toasted well enough
to not get soggy and the seasoning was
excellent. The hand-cut French fries tasted as
fresh as I’ve had and were just the right size.
We both filled up on our food and had no
room to sample the shakes, malts, floats and
homemade snacks they offer for dessert.
W
hile traveling from Weatherford to Azle on a Wednesday evening,
my companion and I stopped at a lovely spot just south of Lake
Weatherford on FM-730 called Outskirtz Grill. From the outside it looks
like a plain little building like any other neighboring small roadside stops
— a convenience store, a small donut shop with a name that implies that
it offers only one donut (one wonders what will happen should someone
decide to buy their lonely pastry). But inside this small, somewhat plain
little building there are many treats offered.
Located one mile south of Lake Weather-
ford, and 2.5 miles north of 180 on FM-730,
the Zaltsbergs opened Outskirtz Grill in July
of 2013 to a hungry audience and have been
accelerating since. They bill themselves as
“hunger repair specialists,” and live up to
the billing with Bike night, Kids eat free on
Wednesday and they are a handgun-friendly
establishment. This was my first visit here in
a while, but will not be my last.
Outskirtz Grill is open Tuesday through Sat-
urday 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., and closed
on Sunday and Monday.
Location is at 2524 Azle Highway (FM-730),
Weatherford, 76085.
As we enter the glass door you see a Blue Bell Ice Cream cooler, and a
service counter to the left. A surprisingly large dining room is to the right. They can be reached at 817-598-0009, on

When our food came, we both were jealous over the other’s choice,
A server comes by to take our drink order while we choose our meal
from the menu or the daily special posted. In our case, the server was
co-owner Stephanie Zaltsberg, who was beaming with pride that she
was able to serve us fantastic food cooked by her husband and co-
owner Brian Zaltsberg. We both ordered iced tea and looked through the
choices such as Burgers, Sandwiches, wraps and even the ever-present
chicken fried steak and sides. I ordered a 1/4 pound Bacon Cheeseburger;
they offer a 1/2 pound, with onion rings, while my companion ordered
the daily special, a Philly Cheese steak served on a Hoagie bun. I noticed
that they offer a gluten-free bun on the smaller burger sizes. The wait was
not excessive since the food is cooked freshly to order and the fries are
hand cut.
