JUNE 2017 PARKER COUNTY TODAY ing this year . He competed in UIL events starting in elementary school and continued through high school in math , science , number sense and calculator . He went to state this year in the calculator competition where he came in 6 th . He will graduate with 21 hours of college credit through his dual credit classes . “ The smallness . I know the whole town ,” is what he said he would miss about Parker County when he eventually leaves to go to UTA .

Emery is also planning on attending Weatherford College for a year ; then will transfer to Tarleton to finish her bachelor ’ s degree in public relations and event management . She ’ s focusing on a career in public relations because , “ I love to be around people , I like to speak in front of people . I love being creative and I like to write ,” she said . She ’ s a member of the National Honor Society , is her school ’ s FFA reporter , has been a class officer all four years of high school and served as the Fellowship of Christian Athletes president this year . She also ran track and cross country . Her mother is an alumnus of Poolville schools , and she ’ s followed in her footsteps attending kindergarten through her senior year in Poolville . “ The community is so involved with everything we ’ ve done . Especially with FFA because it ’ s such an agricultural area ,” she said . Her family does raise Dorper sheep , but it ’ s their hydroponic farm called Lang Gang Farms that really keeps them busy . According to Emery , they grow a lot of lettuce and cucumbers now in an enclosed greenhouse , and are starting tomatoes , watermelon and cantaloupes this spring on their land . She competes in FFA
with the crops that she grows on their farm . “ I ’ m going to miss participating at the county stock show at the rodeo grounds ,” she said . Through her continued participation in FFA , she will be awarded the Lone Star Degree , the highest degree of membership the State FFA Association can award at the end of the school year .

Kristen will be attending Baylor University in Waco next school year to pursue her dream of going to medical school and becoming a pediatrician . She has been attending schools in Aledo since kindergarten , racking up her impressive GPA . With her parents by her side she has decided to be a health science studies major this fall at Baylor .
When asked what she loved most about Parker County she said , “ I love the closely knit community ! Everyone here genuinely cares about each student and is so encouraging and kind ! I love going to school next to open fields and yet having so many opportunities at the same time . All of the memories here with family and friends are going to make it hard to leave !” During high school she has been a member of the Students Standing Strong Bible Study , National Honor Society , Girl Scouts , HSM at Christ Chapel West and in the Math Club .

Parents : Michael and Wendy Weiss GPA 107.348
Erin plans to attend Harding University to major in business and mathematics . While currently undecided on what career she wishes to pursue , she is considering sports management and actuarial science . She has attended school in Aledo since first grade and is very involved in both her school and in her community .
“ I have enjoyed the people who have built this community and who have provided such a wonderful place to grow up in ,” Erin said .
In addition to her impressive academic career , Erin is also quite an esteemed athlete competing on not only the varsity volleyball and basketball teams , but also running varsity track . In addition to sports , she is involved in the Math and Logic Club , National Honor Society , FBLA , Oak Ridge Church of Christ Youth Group , and her school ’ s Film Club . All of these make her a spectacular student that can make Parker County and her parents very proud .

Lindy is considering following her dad ’ s footsteps after college . She is the daughter of Brock Superintendent Scott Drillette and his wife Amy . She will be attending Texas A & M University in the fall , which she says is a family tradition . Her major will be human resources and education
