Doss Heritage and Culture Center- Teach Your Kids Parker County History 52 The Doss Heritage and Culture Center is a Texas history museum in Weatherford that focuses on the local history of Parker County. With interactive exhibits about Native American lifestyle, early pioneer settlement, and the history of the cattle drive, kids can learn while being entertained. The museum also displays local art with new pieces each month, and explores the lives of some of Parker County’s most successful actors. During the month of July, the museum will be hosting its History Alive program on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. They will have a petting zoo on the 10th, a bird feeder building activity on the 17th, and a leather-working class on the 24th. The museum will also be screening “throwback summer movies,” includ- ing “Babe” and “Paulie,” on July 12th and 19th. All events and admission to the museum is free, however the museum does request participants in the activities to register online at dosscenter.org so that they can guar- antee all participants have enough supplies. The museum is open five days a week Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and is open late Thursday nights until 8 p.m. Donations are always accepted and help in their mission to preserve the western heritage of Parker County and educate about the significance of history. 8.
