Jerry Durant Driving Parker County Forward Award — P. Brian Catlin A resident of Weatherford since 1999, Catlin has worked tirelessly since that time to help further worth- while causes in Parker County. Like Jerry Durant before him, Catlin serves on the Weatherford ISD Board of Trustees. Catlin is a 1981 graduate of Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls where he obtained his BBA in Accounting. He has been a licensed Certified Public Account in the State of Texas since 1984, and has been a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants since 1985. “Everybody chooses a way to make a difference, and that’s the way I chose,” Catlin said. Although Catlin has a number of people he respects and admires, his role model is his father, Delbert, who is 86 years old and still leads an active, enviable life. Catlin has been active in numer- ous community organizations, includ- ing Weatherford Little League (board of directors and treasurer six years), Crossroads Youth Ministries (board of directors three years), Parker County Health Foundation (board of directors), church league basket- ball, local youth football leagues, 4H, Parker County Livestock Show, Mary Martin Elementary Watch Dogs, and others. Catlin has also been active in WISD booster clubs and was president of the Football Booster Club. When selecting reading material, Catlin isn’t one to reach for your typical pool books, Stephen King or Tom Clancy. A recent favorite read of Catlin’s is “The Case for Christ,” by Lee Strobel, a first-person narrative of an investigative journalist’s quest to disprove the validity of the Bible’s account of Jesus’ life and the existence of God that resulted in his own faith in the scriptures. Catlin read the book for the second time
