These hardworking volunteers advocate for the best interest of abused and neglected children by providing them a qualified, compassionate adult who will fight for and protect their right to be safe, be treated with dignity and respect and to learn and grow in the safe embrace of a loving family. The children who have a CASA advocate have been shown to do better in school, are adopted earlier and are less likely to be moved from foster home to foster home. The group has been in Parker and Palo Pinto counties for five years, but was established in Seattle in 1977. There are CASA offices in 49 states and they serve 240,000 children through the work of 75,000 volunteers. CASA just moved into a new home in Weatherford with almost 2,300 square feet and plenty of parking. “We are honored to be a part of this event and I’ve met Don and we’re impressed and honored that he chose us as his charity. As a retired police officer he has a heart for children and that’s why we’re super thrilled to have him choose us,” said Barbara Tucker, Executive Director at CASA of Parker and Palo Pinto Counties. The restaurant opened in 2004, but, more recently, relocated to a much larger space in Hudson Oaks
