JULY 2016 PA R K E R C O U N T Y T O D AY In the future Ruiz would like to see growth of their sports programs from the bottom up. “I would like to see our elementary school sports programs grow,” Ruiz said. The elementary, junior high and high school athletes all practice using the same facilities and train with the same coaches on the same campus. “We could potentially have a kid start running in 4th grade and have the same coach all the way through 12th grade. We’re at an advantage because we can do that. They can stay in the same system. We can make sure they develop the correct fundamentals,” he said. “A lot of our talent is in that junior high group, so as they move up into high school, our athletics should grow.” 53
