JULY 2016 PA R K E R C O U N T Y T O D AY T he Worthingtons are one of Parker County’s oldest families. “The Worthingtons came here from Jacksboro in 1882, but the Fants were already here. Joe Worthington married Francis Fant. They’re my grandparents. They were in banking business, the hotel business (they owned the famed Parker House Hotel that occupied the property that is now home to First National Bank of Weatherford),” Mark Fant Worthington said, adding that the Worthingtons had a highly diverse business portfolio long before diversity was considered fashionable. “They were in the land business and the cattle business,” he said. “They owned land in Parker County, in Oklahoma, in Jack County.
