5. History Alive! At The Doss — The public library is not the only local institution with summer plans. They’ll love the History Alive program at The Doss Culture & Heritage Center. Twice a month throughout the summer The Doss will offer Tuesday mornings, filled with fun and hands-on learning. Check www.dosscenter.org for more information and other yet to be announced summer activities. 6. A Lemonade Stand — What better way to give kids a glimpse into the world of business world than to help them open and operate their own lemonade stand? With the street-level stand, they’ll be able to learn about supply and demand, inventory control, and what it takes to turn a profit. They’ll also get an inside look at giving smaller portions for the same inflated prices to make their bottom line healthier and cross marketing with cookie-selling sisters. 7. Volunteer — There are a lot of organizations in Parker County that depend on volunteer help. Package or help deliver Meals on Wheels, feed animals or clean cages at the animal shelter, read to shut-ins. There are a myriad of opportunities that will allow your kids to contribute to the quality of life of others. Plus, it will look good later on college applications.
