From kids, it’s exhilarating but for parents, it can be more then a little frightening. It’s usually fine for a week or so, but then inevitably comes that phrase dreaded by just about every parent, “I’m bored.” Fear not, parents! Parker County Today is here for you. Our scholarly staff has devoted hours and hours (Ok, a couple of hours, at least) into investigating its accumulative effort into finding ingenious, educational and fun activities to keep your little tax deductions busy, or at least afraid to tell you they’re bored, for the whole summer. JULY 2016 PA R K E R C O U N T Y T O D AY 1. Splish Splash! — Summer just isn’t summer without a few trips to the swimming pool. A visit to Weatherford’s Cherry Park pool is low-cost entertainment, guaranteed to get your little tax deductions out of the house and occupied with actual physical activity for hours and who knows? They may even develop a love for moving around, outside. One could only hope. Besides, spending a few hours swimming in the blazing Texas sun will make them tired enough to guarantee a nap, or at least a good night’s sleep once they make it back home. 18 Pool hours are 1 to 5 p.m. weekdays and 12 to 7 p.m. weekends and night swim sessions are held at 8 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays. At $3.00 for a person, it’s a bargain. 2. Head Outside, Really — Take advantage of ALL of the Parks the City of Weatherford has to offer. Cherry Park, the pool and playground, is only one of 11 sports and leisure facilities in the city. Check out the fishing at Cartwright Park, or the skateboarding features at McGratton Park (wear pads
