He is both the reigning CBR and
PRCA World Champion. Kimzey said,
“This year has really picked up where
I left off last year. It started out slow,
but I got my feet back under me after
San Antonio.”
At 20, he has set records with the
titles he’s won as well as breaking the
PRCA record for most money won on
a permit in a single season. “It’s pretty
crazy to reach the pinnacle of my
career at such a young age. I left as
a 19-year-old kid and in a year I did
what very few ever accomplish. It was
a dream come true, it really was,” he
said.
With his winnings he purchased 40
head of cattle, a house and a motor home to travel in. “It’s fun being
out on the road. It’s tough leaving
home for such a long period of time,”
Kimzey said. Lucky for him he has
understanding parents with a rodeo
history of their own. His mother was
a barrel racer and rodeo queen and
his dad rode bulls and bucking horses
in college. He was also a PRCA
barrelman who protected bullriders
