Steven Kirkland
Weaver Monaghen
Nationwide Aviation,
Certified Flight Instructor (CFI)
Q: What do you do?
A: I educate willing students on the
world of aviation and how to safely
and efficiently operate an aircraft.
Q: What are some of your favorite
movies and hobbies?
A: Top Gun, Airplane, and Grown
Ups. I also enjoy collecting model
airplanes and building scaled
diorama airports.
Q: If you were to write a book, what
would you call it and what would it
be about?
A: I would write an autobiography
explaining my life experiences in the
hopes it could help or inspire others
in their life of pain or even joy. I
would call it Captain Kirk.
Q: What accomplishment are you
most proud of?
A: I’m proud that I was able to finish
college a year early and begin my life
on my own here in Parker County.
Q: How did you get into your field?
A: A captain for Southwest Airlines
let me sit up in the cockpit when I
was 5 years old and from that day
forward I wanted to be a pilot. I
studied hard and learned everything
I could about the aviation industry.
When I became of age, 14, I began
flight training. I later studied at
Oklahoma State University where I
got a degree in being a Professional
Pilot.
Q: What do you do to relax?
A: I hang out with my amazing
friends or just relax at home watching
sports.
Q: What scares you?
A: Heights, believe it or not. I can
handle being in an airplane because
I am in control, but being on a ladder
scares me.
Q: Who in your life has influenced
you the most? How?
A: Jesus Christ has no doubt influenced my life the most. The decisions
I make and the life I live are inspired
by the life He lived, and though I
don’t always live up to that, I always
try to glorify Him. His teachings were
literally life-saving.
