The mettle of the CBR’s
cowboys was tested at the National
Championship Rodeo in Las Vegas
during December. The top two earners
at the CBR’s championships in Wyoming
were also successful in Las Vegas. Bull
rider Sage Kimzey won the world
title for the second time, earning his
second straight gold buckle. “Sage
Kinzey won the PRCA bull riding
in Las Vegas. It was exhilarating
and it goes to show you the type of
cowboys the CBR helps produce”
said Cude. Kimzey came in second
in the CBR standings behind Cody
Rostockyj.
What sets the CBR apart is the
focus on not just the cowboys as
athletes, but also the bulls. The CBR is
dedicated to maintaining the strength,
stamina and integrity of professional
level bull riding. Cude oversees all
aspects of the CBR, and is himself a
bull team owner. Professionally he is
the owner of Cude Oilfield and Cude
Energy Services as well as 7 Rocking
X Ranch. He is the owner of the 2014
champion Bucking Bull of the Year,
Penny Lover. He owns 3 franchises
in the million dollar bull team challenge. “We had one bull that was
nominated for bull of the year this
year,” Cude continued. Not only the
cowboys riding the bulls can earn big
checks throughout the season culminating in a $100,000 payout in July
at the CBR World Finals at Cheyenne
Frontier Days, the CBR recognizes
that they wouldn’t have a championship without the bulls, so bull owners
can also earn big money throughout
the tour.
Cude is a hands-on manager and
is credited with major changes and
innovations in the sport of professional bull riding. He implemented
the proprietary Million Dollar Bull
Team Challenge where bucking bull
owners purchase franchises and
buck their bulls in three bull teams
at CBR events and compete for big
prize money. The second format he is
credited with during his tenure is the
8 Second format. CBR bull riding is
a three round tournament style event
with the final four “shoot out” rounds
being a winner-take-all scenario.
“There are two things that the
fan s want to see at a bull riding…
one is eight second rides…and the
other is high scores.” Tuff Hedeman,
an ambassador of the CBR said. “It’s
going to be a great season. I look for
the same toe-to-toe race between
Sage Kimzey and Cody Teel. But
there are three or four unknown guys
that will really make a splash. I look
to see some tough competition,” said
Cude.
