PCT: What’s the best piece of advice you would give? CL: I’d share what my dad always said, “Don’t sweat the small stuff … and it’s all small stuff.” That goes along with my favorite saying, “Worrying is like praying for what you don’t want to happen.” PCT: What is the coolest thing you have ever done in your life? CL: We’ve done a lot of cool things, but the one that stands out is going to the 2012 Winter Olympics held in Salt Lake City, Utah. We got to see the USA hockey team play in the quarterfinal round. Dedra Vick Dedra is the Records Clerk with the Parker County Sheriff’s Office color.   PCT: What would you most like to be remembered for?  DV: When I leave this earth, I want people to remember me as, “She lived life to the fullest, she gave of herself to make a difference to some- one.” The Bible says that Jesus came so that we would live life and live it more abundantly. PCT: What is something people don’t know about you? DV: One thing that people don’t really know about me is that I’m very crafty, and can sew … I sewed for the public in the early 90’s. I have sewn everything from small baby blan- kets to formal wedding gowns and detailed western shirts. I also love to paint!  anyone that would work at my job would be to have thick skin! You cannot wear your feelings on your shoulders working in a law enforcement environment.   PCT: What is the coolest thing you have ever done in your life? DV: The coolest thing I’ve done in my life so far was to sleigh ride in Vermont during Christmas while it snowed 9 inches. DV: If I could have lunch with anyone in history, besides Jesus, it would be his mother Mary. I’ve got so many questions for her. PCT: If you had to do another job other than what you’re doing, what would you choose? DV: Currently, I would not want another job … I love working at the Sheriff’s Office. One of these days, I plan on being the Parker County treasurer. PCT: How did you get into your occupation? DV: My husband and I sold our business and I knew I wanted a job with Parker County. I put in an application for the reception desk position at the Parker County Sheriff’s Office. PCT: What do you do to decompress?  PH: I love to spend time with my girlfriend, kids and family as much as possible. I also enjoy flying, playing golf, [and] attending art and music events when something interesting comes to town.  Continued on page 26 PCT:What do you do to decompress? DV: I’m very hyper and try to stay busy most of the time, but when I do try to relax, I get myself a good cup of coffee, get my color books and PCT:What is your definition of the best day ever? DV: In my opinion, traveling anywhere fun, with friends and family, would be the best day ever for me!   PCT: What’s the best piece of advice you would give someone just starting out in your field? DV:The best advice that I can give PCT: What is your favorite novel? PH: There are too many to list. Some of my favorite authors include C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolken, Ayn Rand, Randy Alcorn, Andy Andrewes and Joel Rosenberg. PCT:What is your favorite novel?  DV: “Pride and Prejudice,” by Jane Austen is my favorite novel, and I love the movie. PCT: What is your greatest impact to Parker County?  DV: Helping get the Children’s Advocacy Center of Parker County off the ground and running smoothly. It’s something that I will ALWAYS be so proud of. PCT: How did you get into your career? PH: My father Tim Hutton founded Hutton Financial Advisors in 1990 and I began working with him after college in 1997. 7
