Clara Conlon ’ s first experience raising and showing an animal . She chose a Wether Boer goat because her mother said “ no ” when she mentioned chickens . Boer goats are meat goats that were developed in South Africa . Boer is an Afrikaans or Dutch word meaning “ farmer ” and they are one of the most common show goats .
