Dawn Stubbs
Dawn is a multitalented rancher .
PCT : How long have you been in Parker County ? DS : Almost 19 years .
PCT : What ’ s the coolest thing that you have ever done in your life ? DS : Tough question to answer . My bucket list is forever changing . I have been very blessed . I ’ ve traveled to almost all 50 states and many countries – Italy , Ireland and Switzerland , to name a few . Then there are Superbowls , Kentucky Derbies . I ’ ve walked the red carpet at the ACM ’ s , CMA ’ S , and the Grammy ’ s , been backstage and sat onstage at the Grand Ole Opry , had dinner with President George W ., Thanksgiving lunch with Governor Perry , and met many country artists , some rock-n-roll artists , a few famous political people and can ’ t forget my actor / actresses . Many of these people have become some of my best friends .
PCT : What ’ s your secret talent ? DS : My talents aren ’ t really secret . I can ’ t touch my nose with my tongue or anything , but I can sing , choreograph a number for you , provide you a marketing plan , and design / decorate you a home or business . I love from the heart .
PCT : What is your definition of the best day ever ? DS : Watching people that I love excel in things that they work hard for and love . Such as my son winning an All-Around Cowboy title , my late son making touchdowns or hitting home runs , or my husband becoming the chairman of a national trucking association . There ’ s been a lot of “ best-day-evers ” in my life .
PCT : What piece of advice has defined your life up till now ? DS : Here again , I ’ m not a one-word answer kind of girl . 1 ) My grandmother always told me “ pretty is as pretty does .” 2 ) My daddy taught me “ learn to find joy in the doing .” The success is the result . 3 ) Lastly , discovering that happiness is a decision , not a destination .
PCT : If you could have another career , what would it be and why ? DS : Graphic design / artist . I love to create , just lack the full skill-set or it would already be my career .
PCT : How did you get into your current job ? DS : You could say it fell in my lap . I ’ m just not sure exactly what my current job is . I own / run a ranch with a small cow / calf operation and horse program , some event planning , a little design work for commercial and residential clients , supporting / traveling with my husband ( business ) and friends ( Yes , that ’ s a job ). I keep all the plates spinning .
PCT : What would you do if you weren ’ t doing this job ? DS : Not sure exactly . It ’ s been said that l live in an “ I do what I want ” world . There lies the perfect job . I would definitely still be in the creative world and maybe own a boutique filled with jewelry , apparel and antiques .
PCT : What would you like to be remembered for ? DS : Finally , a one-word answer — kindness .
