PCT : What is the definition of the best day ever ? MB : Spending time with the grandchildren and watching them grow up . I enjoy watching all kinds of sports and attending their basketball , baseball , soccer , volleyball , dance and wheelchair soccer . They make me so proud .
PCT : What do you do now and in the past ? MB : I am retired after almost 25 years at the FAA where I worked as an Aviation Safety Inspector . I continue to do inspector work as an FAA Designee . I love to sew , take care of my grandkids and upholstery projects .
PCT : How long have you been in Parker County ? MB : We moved to Springtown in 1979 . Both of our children , Brian and Karen , graduated from Springtown High School and have families of their own . After 36 years we decided to sell our house and move to Forney , which is about halfway between the kids . Brian is in Conroe and Karen is in Texarkana .
PCT : What ’ s the coolest thing that you have ever done in your life ? MB : That ’ s a hard one . I have done several cool things , but two stand out to me the most . My job at the FAA allowed me to travel all over the United States . I also had the privilege of traveling to Paris , France , two times . It was amazing . The second thing is to testify in Congress . I was called upon to discuss an airplane manufacturer under investigation . It was so nice to see the inner works of government . PCT : What ’ s your secret talent ? MB : I ’ m a really good bowler .
PCT : What piece of advice has defined your life up till now ? MB : Respect and whatever you do , make it the best it can be .
PCT : If you could have another career , what would it be and why ? MB : I would probably be a teacher . I love to teach . It is so rewarding when someone finally gets it .
PCT : How did you get into your current job ? MB : I worked for my dad for seven years and learned how to read blueprints , run grinding machines , and inspect with very close tolerance tools . I left my dad ’ s shop and went to work at Bell Helicopter inspecting parts . My friend Kathy Jones asked me to apply to the FAA . I got the job at entry level to become a secretary . After a few years a job came open for an aviation safety inspector ; I applied and got the job . One of the best decisions I ever made .
PCT : What would you do if you weren ’ t doing this job ? MB : Sewing , upholstery and visiting grandchildren .
PCT : What would you like to be remembered for ? MB : I would like to be remembered for my sense of humor , my willingness to learn , helping others , and my love of God .
