PCT : What is your secret talent ? CW : My secret talent , I would say , is outdoor cooking . I enjoy grilling just about anything but especially steak . I also really enjoy smoking baby back ribs on my eggs .
PCT : What is your definition of the best day ever ? CW : A warm summer day , relaxing in the water with good food cooking on the smoker and enjoying the company of my family and closest friends .
PCT : What piece of advice has defined your life up till now ? CW : The piece of advice that has defined my life up till now would be to “ leave it better than you found it .” There is always room for improvement and I think we should always strive to improve ourselves and our community .
PCT : If you could have another career what would it be and why ? CW : I have recently spent about five months outside of law enforcement and realized I missed it very much . I truly cannot imagine any other career . I did however , toss around the idea of law school when I was preparing to enter graduate school and ultimately chose to seek my Masters of Public Administration . My dad actually always thought I would be a lawyer , but in his words , I “ became a dang cop ,” and I know he was very proud of my choice . My home is with my brothers and sisters in blue .

PCT : How long have you been in Parker County ? CH : Thirty-seven years . I came from Anderson , Ind ., in May of 1980 .
PCT : What ’ s the coolest thing that you have ever done in your life ? CH : Being at the birth of our daughter , Crystal . It was a last-minute c-section , so I got to see the whole thing .
PCT : What ’ s your secret talent ? CH : Musician , having played the trombone , baritone and base trumpet in high school marching band , drum and bugle corps , and jazz band .
PCT : What is your definition of the best day ever ? CH : Nov . 22 , 1986 , the day I married my wife , Barbara .

PCT : What piece of advice has defined your life up till now ? CH : Stand up for what you believe and never give up .
PCT : What is the best thing about your job ? CH : At my paid job , Walmart , I love the flexibility and my hours , as well as my coworkers . At my volunteer job , I love being able to give back to the community through the Citizen Police Organization . I have the privilege of being McGruff the Crime Dog and enjoying the kid ’ s reactions .
PCT : If you could have another career , what would it be and why ? CH : I would just volunteer on a fulltime basis , because of the satisfaction I get from the organization . I would also take McGruff to other communities that don ’ t have one .
PCT : What do you want to be remembered for ? CH : Being a loving husband , good Daddy , and awesome “ Poppa Chris ” to my granddaughter , Avery .
