best day ever ? GC : Spending time at the deer lease with my grandsons and eating at Mary ’ s Café .
PCT : What piece of advice has defined your life up till now ? GC : Treat people the way you want to be treated .
PCT : What is the best thing about your job ? GC : Helping people .
PCT : If you could have another career , what would it be and why ? GC : I was in the water well business for 30 years . I am now in my second career with Parker County as the Commissioner in Precinct # 1 , and love it ... most of the time .
PCT : What do you want to be remembered for ? GC : Trying to make Parker County the absolute best place to live .
Aaron Austin
Aaron is Executive Chef for Vintage Grill & Car Museum . He was named Parker County Today Dessert Chef of the Year for 2016 in the competition Sweet Charity & Bachelorettes .
PCT : How long have you been in Parker County ? AA : Thirty years .
PCT : What ’ s the coolest thing that you have ever done in your life ?
AA : I was in the Army for eight years , so I traveled all over Iraq and Afghanistan . But probably the coolest thing I have ever done is raise my kids .
PCT : What ’ s your secret talent ? AA : I say I am a good singer , even though my wife doesn ’ t agree . She ’ s laughing at me as I say that right now .
PCT : What is your definition of the best day ever ? AA : The best day ever was either when my kids were born or when I married my wife .
PCT : What piece of advice has defined your life up till now ? AA : Never give up . I kind of got into the culinary industry late after doing a job I wasn ’ t into . It was something I had always wanted to do , so I just went for it .
PCT : What is the best thing about your job ? AA : Watching people smile when you bring out their different foods , seeing their enjoyment as you bring it out . My job is about making other people happy .
PCT : If you could have another career , what would it be and why ? AA : I wouldn ’ t want another career . I ’ ve tried other things . Being a chef is a passion , not a job . I don ’ t feel like I am going to work every day .
PCT : What do you want to be remembered for ?
AA : Integrity . That ’ s the most important thing — knowing you did what was right . Oh , and my incredible singing talent .
