Beth Elaine Turnbow
Q: When you were a child, what did
you want to be when you grew up?
A: A dental hygienist
Q: What do you do?
A: Crime Scene Investigation / Latent
Print Examiner
Q: How did you get into your field?
A: Fate – I was pressured by friends to
talk to an Arlington police recruiter,
three weeks later I was sitting in the
police academy. After working as
a patrolman for about 18 months, I
was tricked into Crime Scene training
(before it was cool) and became the
first female CSI for Arlington PD.
Weatherford Police Detective
Q: What is your favorite book?
A: The Bible. Other than that I usually
read paranormal or fantasy romance
novels.
Q: What is your favorite movie?
A: Don’t laugh…The Twilight Series.
Probably because I got to experience
the excitement of standing in line
for the midnight premiers with my
daughter each year. I wouldn’t have
taken anything for it.
Q: What is your favorite kind of
music?
A: Classic Rock
Q: What’s the most daring thing
you’ve ever done?
A: Probably becoming a police officer
when female officers weren’t very
common.
Q: What accomplishment are you
most proud of?
A: A successful marriage of 30 years
and three wonderful children.
Q: Would you recommend your
career for other people? Why?
A: Being a police officer is a very
rewarding career with excellent job
security. I have always been proud
to be in law enforcement, helping
the community, being a peacemaker
and using my expertise to solve
crimes. Currently, however, I would
not recommend it, due to the danger
caused by the nationally declining
attitude toward the police.
someday.
Q: What person from history would
you most like to have lunch with?
A: Jesus Christ.
Q: What do you do to relax?
A: I like to work in the yard, travel or
just sit down with a good book and
cozy blanket.
Q: If someone asked you for your best
piece of advice, what would you say?
A: Keep your priorities straight – God,
Others and Self, and strive to do your
best in everything you do.
Q: If you could visit any place in the
world, where would you go?
A: I would love to go to Ireland
Q: What would you most like to be
remembered for?
A: Being a loving wife and mother.

Q: What is your favorite book?
A: I haven’t had time to read a book
in quite some time, but occasionally
when I take a vacation to the beach
I’ll pick a novel by Jane Green. She’s
a British author that I love who writes
funny/romantic novels. My favorite is
probably Jemima J. I’ve read it several
times now.
Q: What is your favorite movie?
A: I probably have several that I
enjoy, but every year at Christmas
I watch Love Actually. It’s a quirky
movie that has Liam Neeson and
Hugh Grant and lots of dry humor.

Q: What is your favorite kind of music?
A: I love Texas Country. In Oklahoma
we called it Red Dirt Country…but
I’m a Texan now. I also really like 70s
rock. It’s all I listened to growing up
because my parents loved it.
Q: What’s the most daring thing
you’ve ever done?
A: Probably moving around by myself for residency and then my first
job. I moved to Toledo, Ohio, from
Oklahoma for residency and then
to Weatherford, Texas, for private
practice. Both times I moved I didn’t
know a soul and started over in a new
city by myself. I have never regretted
either move, but I have to admit each
time was a little scary.
Q: What accomplishment are you
most proud of?
A: Completing medical school and
residency. I had to work so hard and
make so many sacrifices in my personal life to get through those eight
